On Tuesday 21st May, prominent whisky enthusiasts and art collectors came together to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Last Drop Distillers, a family-run company that specialises in sourcing and bottling the world’s rarest and most collectable drams.
The private celebration took place in the heart of Mayfair at the exclusive members’ club Maison Estelle. A special dinner and drinks service was held, during which guests were served Tom’s Blend Scotch Whisky-cured salmon with cucumber and dill mayo, roasted beef fillet with roasted shallots, truffle mash and red wine jus, and dark chocolate mousse with bitter marmalade and pistachio praline. Delamotte Champagne flowed and guests sipped on Domaine Vrignaud Chablis and Massolino Barolo.
The highlight of the evening was an auction, with all proceeds benefiting the incredible charitable work of Big Change. Items auctioned included The Coronation Portrait, a masterpiece by the talented Mark Evans, and a bottle of the ultra-rare Blend of 75 Blended Scotch Whisky created by iconic Master Blender Colin Scott, of which only two bottles exist. The charismatic Lord Dalmeny, Chairman of Sotheby’s UK, took to the stage to conduct the auction, resulting in plenty of bidding excitement among guests.
In total, £171,650 was banked for the benefit of Big Change and Just a Drop. The winning bidder for the main lot – The Coronation Portrait and Blend of 75 Bottle by The Last Drop – privately requested that this pair be auctioned again in a year's time, to raise further funds for Big Change.
