Joe Alwyn killed it down at Cannes Film Festival

Joe Alwyn was in Cannes for the upcoming film Kinds of Kindness

When Joe Alwyn arrived on the Côte d'Azur late last week we knew we were going to be spoilt by the actor this Cannes Film Festival. Rocking a full Bottega Veneta outfit, comprising a leather chino jacket, rib tank top, straight-cut jeans and Haddock boat shoes, Alwyn touched down at Nice Airport in the laid-back style you'd expect of a mega star about to shut down the world famous film fest. Veneta's chunky Getaway Weekender bag was in one hand, while he shielded his eyes from the paparazzi flashes with a pair of the Italian label's signature Panthos sunglasses. It was a look that simply said "je suis arivée."

It was a taster of what was to come. 33-year-old Alwyn, who last year served up a plethora of delicious outfits from the likes of Celine, continued on a winning streak of big fits this weekend. First up was the premiere for the film he was there to rep, Kinds of Kindness. Stepping out on Friday night alongside Hunter Schaffer, the Euphoria actor and his co-star, Alwyn wore a Celine black shawl lapel tuxedo jacket and a pair of subtle boot leg tailored trousers. By way of accessories a skinny tie was paired up with black-out shades, and a Piaget timepiece glimmered with the flashes of the paparazzi lenses. It was the movie star look worthy of the Cannes hall of fame (not a real thing FYI), where pictures of tux-clad festival veterans Dicaprio and Hugh Grant would surely hang.

For a photocall for the same film, which gets a global release in June, Alwyn took day time Cannes by storm. For those who aren't aware, the day events during the Cannes Film Festival are a lot more lax than the red carpet outside La Croisette, which traditionally calls for black tie and, without fail, covered shoulders. Alwyn, who has been perfecting a classic style with a subtle twist (more recently with the help of his stylist Rose Forde) since he first came on our radar, stepped out in a striped cream suit, again from Celine. His trousers were hoisted up by a 2mm thin Western style belt, while he went tieless, wore a black shirt and a pair of Celine sunglasses. He wore a Piaget Warhol watch on his wrist. It was effortless, yet the power of the fit came in the details (or clever lack of).

And, while he was only in town for a brief moment, Alwyn continued to serve right up until his departure. Photographed at Nice Airport on Sunday, after having completing his duties with the rest of the Kinds of Kindness cast, Alwyn wore a pink washed out polo, and a pair of jeans, which draped over a pair of Bottega Veneta Flex sneakers to board his plane out of France. Wait, hang on a second. No. Those weren't actually jeans. They're a pair of Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy's trompe l’oeil leather denim trousers. An IYKYK sort of fit, that might not have looked much at first sight, but had all the workings of a proper fashion guy in the making. Only a guy who means business flies in leather trousers. Alwyn slung a large, hand-woven Intrecciato leather Andiamo bag (the same bag Jacob Elordi carries round) in barolo leather on one arm.

Alwyn came to play in Cannes and he didn't mess around.
